What does the map below show us? First of all, the fact that many of those who die at our borders are nameless, unknown... More than a simple census, this work of collection and mapping aims first of all to give an identity and a history to these "nameless bodies". This map also tells us that in Calais, as elsewhere, security policies (of insecurity of migratory routes) do not make borders watertight. They simply make them dangerous and lethal for those who try to cross them. European agreements, bilateral treaties, construction of walls, police surveillance, etc., transform this border into a space of death. To cross it, there is no other choice than to risk one's life.
